Screening room · intro sequence · cut 2
Fourteen shots. The rat world becomes the cubicle floor, the cubicle floor becomes the executive world, and nobody gets off the wheel.
The morph is in. Shot 03b at 7.4s — the wheel disintegrates and the debris flies out into an infinite cubicle floor. This is the beat the original brief asked for and the first assembly never had.
It's played as a match cut. 03b opens on the same wheel, rat and lighting as shot 03, so back to back they'd have jumped. Shot 03 is trimmed to 1.6s and 03b enters at exactly 1.000s — the frame where its background starts to change. The wheel holds its scale and centre across the cut while the world behind it swaps.
The synthetic whip pan is gone. Beat 3's "whip-pan transition into human world" is now carried in-camera. Two transitions back to back read as a stutter.
The footage already contains the film's central contrast, so the grade strengthens the split rather than flattening it.
The switch rides shot 08's fade-up from black, where a hard grade change is invisible. Its position is derived from the edit list, so adding 03b moved it from 21.4s to 23.3s on its own.
2.39:1 scope, 10% colourless halation above 215, light grain, a soft vignette. Every number small — an earlier pass stacked contrast and buried the road detail in shot 04.

| 0:37.3 | Final title over the void plate |
Krea is hard-blocked. The API works and uploads succeed, but every generate call returns "your API balance is separate from your workspace compute balance." A subscription doesn't fund it — it's a separate top-up at krea.ai/app/api that only the owner can add. Re-confirmed zero 2026-08-03.
720p master. Higgsfield upscale can take the locked edit to 2K/4K on credits that do exist. 03b is already a 4K render.
No sound design. Every clip carries its own Seedance audio. No score, no VO, no cross-clip mix — shot 07's silence is an ffmpeg fade, not a mix decision.
Chronology check. 03b lands in a cubicle floor, then shot 04 is the dawn commute — backwards in time. Kept deliberately: the reveal reads as the thesis and 04–06 elaborate it. Worth your eye on playback.
